Week 7: Timelines and Storytelling

What an unbelievable amount of work Year 5 have got through this week!

In English, we have started our new text type: Suspense & Mystery stories. We watched a spooky story animation and then made story mountains to help us retell the story.

In CCS we finished off the timelines that we started last week. We have looked at many people from different periods who have changed the world so it was quite a challenge to fit them all onto the same timeline. We tried to make them as creative and eye-catching as we could!

Week 5: Charity fundraising

This week, it is Year 5's turn at being responsible for the Primary School's charity fundraising. We decided to do a 'Coin Dash' where each year group brings in as many coins as they can. The year group with the most coins by Thursday 27th September will win pizza for lunch 😊 This means that Year 5 have had the important responsibility of using our Mathematics skills to add up all the donated coins! Keep donating!

It has also been a very important week for our CCS lessons. We have been learning about people who have changed our world and spent the last couple of weeks researching, creating and practising presentations about these people. This week we presented our work to the rest of the class. It takes a lot of courage to speak in front of other people and all the students did a fantastic job.

Week 3: Wai Kru, Storytelling & more!

As well as continuing to be busy with our learning, we celebrated 'Wai Kru' day on Thursday. It was a lovely way to celebrate the special relationships between teachers, TAs and students in Year 5.

A special congratulations to Tong in 5C who performed the King's Anthem at the start of our ceremony.

Friday was very exciting as we had a visit from Craig Jenkins who is a storyteller. He told us two fantastically funny stories that had us all crying with laughter! Just ask your children to tell you some of the funny parts...! They can see more stories of Craig's on his website:

What a fantastic week! We are looking forward to meeting with all the parents during the Parent-Teacher Meetings on Wednesday and Thursday next week.

Have a great weekend!
