Underwater

From the bottoms of the oceans to the tops of lakes, this blog will explore the different living beings in the ocean.

Sharks. Sharks are ancient animals. They've been on earth for at least 420 million years. Sharks, unlike most fish, don't have bones, but cartilage, which is a soft, sinewy substance. They have several rows of teeth and might have as many as 3,000 teeth in their mouths at one time.

Fish. Fish are vertebrates, which means that they have a backbone. They are cold-blooded, which means that their body temperature changes along with the temperature of their surroundings. Fish generally breathe through organs called gills. They usually have pairs of fins in place of arms and legs.

Now for whales. A baby whale is called a “calf”, a female whale is called a “cow”, and a male whale is called a “bull”. Whales live a long time. A humpback whale can live for 45 years while a Blue whale can live as long as 90 years. They can have babies every two to four years.

Dolphins are up next! Most dolphins are 7–10 feet (2–3 meters) long, but some species can reach a length of 13 feet (4 meters). Dolphins have smooth, rubbery skin. They are usually colored in some mixture of black, white, and gray. They have two flippers, or fins, on their sides, as well as a triangular fin on the back.

Thankyou for reading this blog! I hope you learnt something new about underwater life! Bye!
